FASHIONS DESIGNERS PICTURES FOR 2016

VOGUE : PRE-FALL 2016

With the 2016 Olympics just 210 days away, everyone has Rio de Janeiro on the brain—but for Trina

Turk, it isn’t really a stretch. She’s built her California-based business on vibrant colors, graphic prints, and beachy caftans that are just as suited to Ipanema as they are to Malibu. For Pre-Fall, the color palette was appropriately “sunny and warm”—not only will the Summer Games kick off in July and August, that’s when this collection will ship, too. So it was no surprise to find zero coats or heavy sweaters in the lineup. “Mother Nature is kind of reinforcing the idea of buy now, wear now,” she said, referring to the mild temperatures we experienced this December.

Turk’s custom prints were characteristically punchy, but it was the simpler things that

stood out most, like a “toucan yellow” slip dress and cropped olive green pants. “Our

customer is always looking for the next beautiful print, but she’s also looking for

something she can individualize,” Turk explained. The slip dress in particular would be

easy to style all year round; wear it alone in August, then layer it over a cream

ribbed knit this fall.
